As someone who had never practiced meditation, I was about to get a crash course in mindfulness. For the first time in my life, I was living in the moment.
Finally, I have taken the time to sit down and examine my motives for taking on such a challenge. I share them here for anyone who is thinking about running Marathon des Sables, for those who are just interested in knowing why some of us do what we do and for those who have signed up for next year’s event and just can’t read enough about it. But most importantly I wrote this for myself, as a reminder of what an awesome adventure Marathon des Sables is.
